brief
In March 2020, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the widespread suspension of in-person classes and campus shutdowns across Canada. This significant disruption required rapid adaptation from students, faculty, university staff, and administrators as they transitioned to remote learning environments to ensure the successful completion of the term. Adapting the magazine’s content strategy and visual approach to meet the emerging needs of the university community became a key priority.
Approach and RESULTS
To address the urgency of the situation, we needed to quickly develop and integrate new digital content to ensure the magazine’s presentation remained engaging and relevant amid the evolving circumstances. A new section was added to the University Affairs website titled “COVID-19: Updates for Canada’s Universities,” which quickly became the most-read content on the site. This increase in readership significantly expanded University Affairs audience and established it as the leading source for in-depth coverage of the pandemic’s impact on higher education in Canada.
