brief
Universities Canada launched the Action for Net Zero initiative to measure and accelerate climate progress across its member institutions. As a national hub for knowledge-sharing, advocacy, and collaboration, the initiative required a compelling visual identity that would reflect its mission of sustainability and inspire commitment to achieving net-zero targets.
APPROACH
The visual identity was designed to unify and inspire climate action. At its center is a logo that blends two recognizable symbols: a target, representing focus and measurable progress toward GHG reduction goals, and wind power, suggested through a radial form that conveys renewable energy, movement, and adaptability. This combined symbol reflects both the ambition and action required to reach net-zero targets. The identity extends across digital and print applications, offering a cohesive and flexible system to drive awareness, engagement, and impact.
To empower participation, a comprehensive brand toolkit was developed for member institutions. It includes customizable templates for social media, web, and print, allowing institutions to showcase their climate targets and achievements. These templates are designed to integrate institutional messaging, photos, and videos, supporting consistent and compelling storytelling across the network.
OUTCOME
The logo and visual identity successfully encapsulate the spirit of collaboration and innovation at the heart of Universities Canada’s climate strategy. More than just a mark, it functions as a shared platform—amplifying local efforts while uniting institutions under a common goal of building a resilient, low-carbon future.
